Ricardo Del Toro grewup in Albuquerque, New Mexico with three siblings: Raymond, Isaac, and Mattie Del Toro. While growing up, he participated in groups like Awana and was very active in his church, feeling especially led in the area of children's ministry. He also had a passion for electronics; he really enjoyed taking things apart and (somewhat) putting them back together. He decided to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering at New Mexico Tech. Ricardo likes video games and sleeping.
Katey Alvarez moved around a lot as a kid, but settled with her family by the age of 10 in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. She was also very involved in her church, serving in various children's ministries, and teaching Bible school over the summer. Katey decided to pursue a degree in Biochemistry her senior year of high school, shortly before her youngest brother, Toby, was born. She has two other siblings: Gracie and Luke. Katey loves Netflix and sleeping.
Ricardo and Katey met at New Mexico Tech within the community of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Ricardo started to have feelings for Katey while they both took on leadership roles in InterVarsity, working and serving together with their friends in the community. It took a while (a year and a half, to be exact) for Katey to come around, but Ricardo was a patient friend and waited her out until April 17, 2017 when they went on their first date at El Camino Restaurant in Socorro for breakfast. Since then, they have enjoyed going to Annex church, spending time with each other's families, doing, Bible studies, and watching Netflix together. With the intentions of glorifying God and with their upcoming graduation from New Mexico Tech, they pursued each other with a serious intention for marriage. They are pleased to announce their engagement as of March 15, 2018, and are thrilled to invite family and friends to share in their vows on June 7, 2018.
